Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Mentor to join our team at GSL Education. As a Behaviour Support Mentor, you will play a pivotal role in guiding students through their challenges, promoting positive behaviours, and fostering a safe and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and group support to students exhibiting challenging behaviours, ensuring they receive the necessary guidance and attention.
  • Help implement personalised behaviour plans, focusing on promoting positive behaviour and enhancing students' learning experiences.
  • Collaborate with teachers and SENCOs to provide consistent, tailored support across the school, ensuring all students are included and supported.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment, encouraging students to actively participate in lessons and activities.
  • Monitor student progress and provide regular, constructive feedback to both teachers and parents to track behavioural and academic development.
  • Encourage the development of essential skills, including social skills, emotional resilience, and conflict resolution strategies to help students succeed in and out of the classroom.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and positive classroom atmosphere, contributing to a space where students feel secure, respected, and motivated to learn.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting students with challenging behaviours.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour effectively.
  • A proactive and compassionate approach to working with students.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service.
