Role Overview

Kent County Council's Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children's Service is seeking a skilled Senior Practitioner to join our team. As a Senior Practitioner, you will play a crucial role in supporting newly arrived unaccompanied asylum-seeking children in Kent.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to newly arrived unaccompanied asylum-seeking children and provide support to ensure their voice is heard.
  • Manage a complex caseload and supervise social worker assistants.
  • Act as a duty senior to enhance your management skills and develop skills in age assessments, working with children in care, managing child protection concerns, and interagency working with key partners.
  • Work across Kent and nationally across the UK, including with other Local Authorities under the National Transfer Scheme.

  • Full induction and manageable caseloads of between 15-18 cases.
  • Annual Leave allowance of 29-30 days (plus bank holidays and an extra day off at Christmas).

Requirements

  • A command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
  • Registration as a qualified Social Worker with Social Work England.
