Job Title: Subcontract Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Subcontract Manager to join our team at Thales Group. As a Subcontract Manager, you will be responsible for managing subcontracted suppliers within a specified Thales bid, product, or project. You will work closely with suppliers to develop and deliver complex, high-risk, high-value equipment or services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and be accountable for the overall performance and compliance of subcontracted suppliers.

  • Ensure subcontracted suppliers meet technical, program, cost, and performance requirements.

  • Evaluate supplier proposals for compliance against requirements and identify areas of risk or concern.

  • Create accurate procurement estimates, covering labor, material, and total cost of ownership for the bid team.

  • Manage the schedule and performance of allocated work packages, ensuring rigorous adherence to project management, quality, and technical governance.

  • Use negotiated sub-contracts to support project budget constraints and achieve timely performance while minimizing program risk and exploiting opportunities.

  • Maintain an ethical approach to tasks and relationships in accordance with relevant Thales policies.

  • Ensure appropriate supplier relationship management and performance management techniques are employed with subcontracted suppliers to improve performance, mitigate risk, and capture innovation.

  • Attend regular progress report meetings with subcontracted suppliers to manage performance and resolve issues in a jointly agreed and coordinated fashion.

  • Monthly measurement of subcontracted supplier metrics and enforcement of contractual agreements where key performance indicators are not being met.

  • Recognize and identify subcontract claims as they develop and manage the timely resolution under changing provisions where possible, obtaining legal expertise when necessary.

  • Record and report UPD savings.

  • Review, monitor, and communicate subcontracted supplier financial stability, identify risk areas prior to engagement, and recognize trigger points where further analysis would be required.

Requirements:

  • 8 years plus relevant experience in mid-to-senior level procurement.

  • Track record of success in a similar role in relevant businesses or markets.

  • Supplier relationship and performance management techniques and measurement.

  • Use of supplier relationship and performance management techniques and measurement.

  • MCIPS or equivalent qualifications in other disciplines, particularly project management.

  • Displays passion, energy, drive, agility, and resilience in achieving ambitious targets under difficult circumstances, capitalizes on lessons learned, and responds positively to setbacks.
