Role Overview:

As a Supplier Relationship Manager, you will take full ownership of managing subcontracted suppliers within designated Thales projects, collaborating closely with them to develop and deliver complex, high-stakes equipment or services under specific contractual terms.

The ideal candidate will oversee subcontract management throughout the entire lifecycle, from development and bidding to contract execution. This role may require frequent travel and close collaboration with suppliers to ensure that all requirements are met in alignment with technical specifications, program objectives, cost constraints, and performance standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and ensure the overall performance and compliance of assigned suppliers.
  • Guarantee that supplier requirements are fulfilled, achieving advantageous conditions consistent with technical, programmatic, cost, and performance standards.
  • Engage effectively with internal stakeholders and customers to facilitate the execution of supplier requirements.
  • Manage procurement processes for allocated suppliers, adhering strictly to Thales protocols.
  • Act as the primary liaison for all communications between Thales and suppliers, including Requests for Proposals, technical discussions, and contract initiation meetings.
  • Generate and review Requests for Quotations, ensuring all bid and program requirements are accurately captured.
  • Assess supplier proposals for compliance with requirements and identify potential risks or concerns.
  • Prepare precise procurement estimates, encompassing labor, materials, and Total Cost of Ownership for the bidding team.
  • Oversee the schedule and performance of assigned work packages, ensuring strict adherence to project management, quality, and technical governance.
  • Utilize negotiated contracts to support project budget constraints while achieving timely performance and minimizing risks.
  • Recognize and manage export controls related to supply chain architecture and program requirements.
  • Maintain ethical standards in all tasks and relationships, in line with Thales policies.
  • Implement effective Supplier Relationship Management and Performance Management techniques to enhance supplier performance, mitigate risks, and foster innovation.
  • Conduct regular progress meetings with suppliers to manage performance and resolve issues collaboratively.
  • Monitor supplier metrics monthly and enforce contractual agreements when Key Performance Indicators are not met.
  • Identify and manage subcontract claims as they arise, ensuring timely resolution and seeking legal expertise when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant governance in accordance with Thales processes.
  • Document and report on savings achieved through supplier management.
  • Evaluate and communicate supplier financial stability, identifying risk areas prior to engagement.

Skills and Experience:

  • Extensive procurement expertise, including needs analysis, cost design, technical interface management, and risk management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present effectively.
  • Interpersonal skills to enhance cross-organizational collaboration and work effectively with suppliers.
  • Analytical capabilities.
  • Commercial acumen with advanced negotiation skills and experience across various contracting models.
  • Well-developed organizational abilities.
  • Over 8 years of relevant experience in mid to senior-level procurement roles.
  • Proven track record of success in similar positions within relevant industries.
  • Experience with Supplier Relationship and Performance Management techniques.
  • MCIPS or equivalent qualifications in related fields, particularly Project Management.
  • Demonstrated passion, energy, and resilience in achieving ambitious targets.
  • Ability to understand and prioritize internal and external customer needs to foster a customer-first culture.
