We are seeking a highly skilled Computational Biologist/Genomicist to join our team at the University of Cambridge. The successful applicant will be responsible for leveraging single-cell genomic and transcriptomic datasets to understand the somatic evolution of the T cell response to cancer.
The Machado Lab is interested in how tumour and immune cells co-evolve and contribute to cancer progression. Our research focuses on the timing of the immune response to cancer, the role of inflammation on remodeling the immune response to cancer, and the somatic evolution of the immune response to immunotherapy.
The successful applicant should have a relevant PhD Qualification, experience in analysing genomic and/or multiomic datasets, excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to manage time effectively. We are particularly excited about recent technological advancements in single-cell whole genome sequencing, such as primary template-directed amplification (PTA), which substantially expands the scope of answerable somatic evolution questions.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 3 years in the first instance. We welcome applications from individuals who wish to be considered for part-time working or other flexible working arrangements.
Informal queries regarding the research of the laboratory and the role should be directed to Dr Heather Machado. The University actively supports equality, diversity and inclusion and encourages applications from all sections of society.
The University has a responsibility to ensure that all employees are eligible to live and work in the UK.
