Electrical Engineering Head Opportunity

The University of Manchester Facilities Maintenance and Compliance Unit is seeking an experienced and visionary Head of Electrical Engineering to lead our dynamic engineering team.

In this role, you will oversee the design, development, and implementation of electrical maintenance. Establish and maintain standard specifications for both new installations and maintenance activities while driving projects to success and ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices.

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • Leadership and mentorship skills to foster a culture of innovation and collaboration within the team.
  • Expertise in electrical system design and development, ensuring compliance with project specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate electrical solutions into larger projects.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the Facilities Maintenance and Compliance Teams to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Effective management of project timelines, budgets, and resources.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of the latest technological advancements and industry trends.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with external partners, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards in all engineering activities.

As an ideal candidate, you will have:

  • Appropriate academic qualifications to degree level in an electrical engineering-related discipline and substantial vocational experience.
  • Chartered Engineer status and full membership of CIBSE.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical design principles, tools, and methodologies.
  • Excellent project management skills, with a track record of successfully leading complex projects.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
