Job Description

The University of Manchester is seeking a visionary leader to head our Electrical Engineering team. As the Head of Electrical Engineering, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, and implementation of electrical maintenance projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of electrical engineers and inspectors, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
  • Oversee the design and development of electrical systems, ensuring they meet project specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate electrical solutions into larger projects.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the Facilities Maintenance and Compliance Teams to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively.
  • Stay updated with the latest technological advancements and industry trends to ensure our practices remain cutting-edge.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with external partners, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards in all engineering activities.

Requirements:

  • Appropriate academic qualification to degree level in an electrical engineering related discipline and substantial vocational experience.
  • Hold Chartered Engineer status and full membership of CIBSE.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical design principles, tools, and methodologies.
  • Excellent project management skills, with a track record of successfully leading complex projects.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
