Policy Officer

Job Summary:
The Royal Society of Chemistry is seeking a highly skilled Policy Officer to join our team on a part-time or full-time basis for an 18-month fixed-term contract.
This is an exciting opportunity for a policy professional to make a difference by helping the RSC to influence public policy where it enables chemical scientists to make the world a better place.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and coordinate policy positions, policy communications, and reporting.
- Carry out and commission research, analyse relevant data, and write case studies.
- Manage delivery relationships and communicate evidence.
Requirements:
- Degree in science or science-related area, or in economics or statistics with a good knowledge of both science and public policy.
- Track record of developing, planning, delivering, and reviewing projects, with the ability to plan, balance, and prioritise work to meet tight deadlines.
- Able to communicate effectively orally and in writing with a variety of audiences, using a range of communication channels.
Desirable Skills:
- Knowledge of key areas of UK and international policy impacting on, or impacted by, the chemical sciences.
- Understanding of Government and public policy development in the UK.
- Experience of carrying out and/or commissioning policy research.
The role can be based in our Cambridge or London office and will involve limited UK travel, as well as some weekend and evening work.
