The role of a Publishing Intern at Nick Hern Books offers an exciting opportunity to explore the connection between theatre and publishing in a specialist publishing house. With over 1,500 plays and theatre books in their catalogue, the company is the UK's leading performing arts publisher.
About the Role
This full-time internship provides a hands-on experience, allowing you to shadow and learn from members of the team across various departments: editorial, production, sales, marketing, rights, finance, and customer service. As a valued member of the team, you will gain skills and experience that can be applied throughout your career, whether in publishing or theatre.
Key Responsibilities
Your tasks will include office duties such as assisting with customer orders, processing invoices and payments, and replenishing office supplies. Additionally, you will be involved in production, proofreading and checking corrections, and in marketing, compiling and proofreading materials like review quotes, metadata, digital assets, and newsletters.
Requirements
We are looking for candidates who have a demonstrable interest and knowledge of theatre and a genuine passion for starting a career in theatre and/or publishing. You should also be able to bring a fresh perspective and contribute meaningfully to the team.
Salary Information
The estimated salary for this role is £25,000-£35,000 per annum, depending on location and experience.
