About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Data Journalist to join our team at Law Business Research Limited. As a Data Journalist, you will play a critical role in generating daily news and longer-form analysis that keeps our global subscription base of major law firms, companies, regulators, and government departments up to date with key global developments.

Your primary responsibility will be to report on data protection and privacy, artificial intelligence, social media regulation, and other major legal and regulatory issues. You will work closely with our data team to identify opportunities to generate stories from courts, data, policy changes, and relationships with lawyers and policymakers.

We are looking for a self-starter who can learn how to cover a critical and growing area of law and business. You will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and an aptitude for finding, pitching, and reporting stories. You will also be able to find sharp angles in stories and work collaboratively in a newsroom environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Report on data protection and privacy, artificial intelligence, social media regulation, and other major legal and regulatory issues
  • Work closely with the data team to identify opportunities to generate stories
  • Develop and pitch story ideas to the editorial team
  • Write and edit articles to a high standard
  • Collaborate with the editorial team to ensure that all content meets the highest standards
Requirements
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Aptitude for finding, pitching, and reporting stories
  • Ability to find sharp angles in stories
  • Self-starter, confident in covering this critical and growing area of law and business
  • Team-oriented and collaborative outlook in newsrooms
