As a Journalist Apprentice at the BBC, you will be part of a dynamic team that produces high-quality content for a global audience. You will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, from breaking news to in-depth features, and develop your skills in research, writing, and broadcasting.

Throughout your apprenticeship, you will receive comprehensive training and support to help you achieve your full potential. You will have access to the BBC Academy's cutting-edge facilities and work with experienced professionals who will guide you every step of the way.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Work within the R&D Advisory Team to identify, understand and share insights into emerging technologies.
  • Develop your journalistic skills, creating and delivering quality content in video, audio and text.
  • Find and create technology-based stories for diverse audiences.
  • Immerse yourself in the technology of news from computer vision to data science.

What You'll Study:

The Level 5 Journalist Apprenticeship combines academic training with practical on-the-job experience. As an apprentice, you will follow the Journalist Apprenticeship standard (curriculum) and work towards an industry-recognised qualification, the NCTJ Diploma in Journalism.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in journalism and technology, and to launch a successful career in the media industry.

Eligibility:

  • Be aged 18 or over when the apprenticeship starts
  • Have lived in the UK or European Economic Area (EEA) for a minimum of 3 years
  • Be eligible to work in the UK full-time for the duration of the apprenticeship contract
  • Not currently taking part in an apprenticeship scheme supported by the BBC or another organisation
