As a Journalist Apprentice at the BBC, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and gain hands-on experience in the world of journalism. You will work alongside experienced professionals in the BBC News and Sports teams, creating and delivering high-quality content for TV, online, digital, and audio platforms.


Main Responsibilities


As a BBC Journalist Apprentice, your key responsibilities will include:



  • Working with the news and sports teams to develop your journalistic skills and create engaging content.
  • Participating in all newsroom activities, including sourcing and securing suitable guests or contributors, writing briefs for your team, and shooting and editing films.
  • Finding and creating stories for diverse audiences, including researching and assisting with interviews.
  • Learning from and working with industry experts to develop your skills and knowledge.

What You Will Study


The BBC Journalist Apprenticeship combines academic training with practical on-the-job experience. You will follow the Journalist Apprenticeship standard (curriculum) and work towards an industry-recognized qualification, the NCTJ Diploma in Journalism. This is assessed through exams and coursework.

Eligibility


To be eligible for the BBC Journalist Apprenticeship, you must:



  • Be aged 18 or over when the apprenticeship starts.
  • Have lived in the UK or European Economic Area (EEA) for a minimum of 3 years.
  • Be eligible to work in the UK full-time for the duration of the apprenticeship contract.
  • Not currently taking part in an apprenticeship scheme supported by the BBC or another organization.
