About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Submarine Safety Engineering Consultant to join our team at BMT. As a key member of our team, you will provide technical safety support and subject matter advice to a wide range of current and future submarine and underwater system related projects.

With a strong background in submarine operations and equipment, you will be able to support the delivery of safety projects to schedule, quality, and budget, meeting the requirements of our clients, UK legislation, and associated regulations, standards, and policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing technical safety support and subject matter advice to submarine and underwater system related projects
  • Supporting the delivery of safety projects to schedule, quality, and budget
  • Meeting the requirements of our clients, UK legislation, and associated regulations, standards, and policies
  • Developing and managing hazard logs, supporting and facilitating HAZID and hazard review meetings, and authoring safety assessment/safety case reports

Requirements

  • Experience of submarine operations and equipment
  • Knowledge of safety management for Nuclear Facilities and associated Authorising Conditions and Site Licensing arrangements
  • Knowledge of safety regulation, policy, and standards, with experience relevant to UK MOD approaches to submarine safety
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to present professionally, both verbally and in writing
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to professional accreditation, such as IEng or CEng
