About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Submarine Safety Engineering Consultant to join our team at BMT. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in providing technical safety support and subject matter advice to a wide range of submarine and underwater system related projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical safety support and subject matter advice to submarine and underwater system related projects
  • Support the delivery of safety projects to schedule, quality, and budget
  • Develop and manage hazard logs, support and facilitate HAZID and hazard review meetings, and author safety assessment/safety case reports
  • Provide justification of the ALARP status of products and ensure compliance with statutory safety legislation
  • Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders, presenting professionally both verbally and in writing
Requirements
  • Experience of submarine operations and equipment, including maintenance and repair processes and procedures
  • Knowledge of UK MOD approaches to submarine safety, including Defence Safety Authority (DSA) Regulations and Defence Nuclear Safety Regulations
  • Ability to develop and manage hazard logs, support and facilitate HAZID and hazard review meetings, and author safety assessment/safety case reports
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills, with the ability to work well in a team
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to professional accreditation, such as IEng or CEng
