Clinical Health Psychologist

We are seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic psychologist to join our team at St George's Hospital. The successful candidate will work within the Red Cell Pain Management and Psychology Service (RCPMPS), providing psychological support to patients with mood difficulties associated with haemoglobinopathies, adjustment issues, and treatment adherence.
About the RoleThe postholder will work largely in the psychology arm of the RCPMPS and alongside the rest of the team in a newly developed community multidisciplinary team (MDT) and service to support patients of adult age, families, and carers affected by SCD across South London. This new service forms part of a two-year pilot, and the role will involve travel across the South London footprint.
Key Responsibilities- Support the development and delivery of workshops, outreach, and patient participation projects
- Work collaboratively with an Assistant Psychologist and Social Prescribing Link Worker, and with the haematology doctors, community and hospital clinical nurse specialists
- Liaise with ward nursing staff and the apheresis team
- Develop and use complex multi-media materials for presentations in public, professional, and academic settings
- Use Microsoft Word to produce clinical reports and other documents as required by the service
- Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996)
- Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and presenting with the full range of clinical severity
- Experience of psychological work with people with physical health problems
- Experience of representing psychology within the context of multi-disciplinary care
- Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups
We have a well-established and supportive clinical health and neuropsychology department at the trust, which provides regular CPD and peer supervision. We have well-established links with the St Georges University and are actively involved in promoting the work of psychology and pain management within haemoglobinopathies through research, presentations at conferences, and teaching.
