Job Description

Job Title: Import - Export Manager

Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 (DOE)

Location: East London


Our client, a luxury English brand specializing in craft silver and leather items, is seeking a skilled Distribution Manager to join their team in their East London Workshop on a permanent, full-time basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced distribution professional to join a dynamic team in the distribution of luxury goods.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Control inward shipments, ensuring correct customs procedures are used and goods are received and quality-checked within 24 hours of arrival.
  • Import/export and shipment management.
  • Lead the distribution team to ensure orders are delivered to a high standard, safely, and on time.
  • Update and manage production reports.
  • Manage in-house corporate personalizing and engraving schedules and goods receipt.
  • Track and chase inward shipments from suppliers, escalating issues as necessary to ensure timely delivery.
  • Ensure workshop shipments are passed on to the workshop team for QC and labeling before storage.
  • Update and disseminate day-end reports to relevant staff on all goods in and goods out stock control.
  • Ensure stock items are protected and stored appropriately, and the warehouse is kept neat and orderly.
  • Record all stock movements and track and control samples, including high-value and bespoke items.
  • Perform quarterly stock takes, investigate discrepancies, and report results.
  • Run and update monthly stock reports, including bespoke items.
  • Control movement of tooling.
  • Ensure project stock is labeled and stored safely.
  • Ensure finished project components are stored safely.
  • Take full control of the warehouse, ensuring it is a 'closed system' with products/components only entering or leaving through the Distribution Manager.
  • Ensure all issues are reported and logged, including supplier, quality, internal, or courier-related issues.
  • Provide accurate and timely delivery quotes to the sales team, identifying different options and costs, including allowances for duties and taxes.
  • Control outward shipments of IPR shipments, ensuring all documentation is logged for quarterly review.
  • Organize and schedule sales order deliveries, ensuring all details are correct, and for overseas deliveries, paperwork is complete and accurate, including commercial invoices, packing lists, ATRs, and any other specific requirements.
  • Ensure deliveries reach their destinations, tracking from collection to delivery to the client.


Requirements:

  • Ability to develop and mentor distribution team staff.
  • Highly experienced in customs, imports, and exports.
  • Proven stock management experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to use and improve internal systems, including procedures and controls.
  • Effective negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Knowledge and appreciation of luxury products.
  • Strong IT skills and knowledge.
  • Full, clean driving license is an essential requirement.
  • Health and safety awareness.
