Senior Accountant Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team at Bennett and Game Recruitment LTD.

**Job Summary:**

As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for leading our accounting team and providing high-quality technical services to our clients.

**Key Responsibilities:**

* Prepare and complete corporate and small limited company and self-employed accounts
* Prepare corporation tax returns (CT600) with appropriate calculations
* Complete self-assessment tax returns for individuals and self-employed traders
* Assist in-house bookkeepers with their accounting and software queries
* Carry out VAT checks and reviews of bookkeepers' work
* Liaise with clients to obtain information to complete tasks
* Comply with financial laws, regulations, and standards
* Report discrepancies and issues to senior management
* Migrate clients onto cloud bookkeeping, including setting up opening balances and integrating third-party apps
* Demonstrate good communication skills and manage time effectively
* Keep personal accounting qualifications up to date

**Requirements:**

* Experience of dealing with company and self-employed accounts and tax returns
* Excellent working knowledge of one or more cloud accounting software packages, preferably Xero
* Good Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel
* Polite telephone manner and good interpersonal skills
* Strong attention to detail
* Accountancy practice background preferred

**What We Offer:**

* Full-time role, Monday to Friday (9am to 5pm)
* 20 days holiday, plus bank holidays, plus closure between Christmas & New Year

* 10% commission payable on introduction of new clients
