Job Description:

Role Summary:

This role is a key position in the South West, working alongside our Site Managers to implement and support the planning, preparation, and delivery of harvesting and forestry operations on the Woodland Trust South West estate.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Implement and support the planning, preparation, and delivery of harvesting and forestry operations on Dartmoor and across the South West region.
  2. Actively plan, specify, tender, procure, and supervise the implementation of contracts to ensure compliance with FSC certification and the Woodland Trust's Health and Safety policies.
  3. Conduct qualitative standards, mapping, timber mensuration, tree inspections, and data gathering to support operation delivery throughout the estates.
  4. Engage with internal and external stakeholders, local communities, partners, and volunteers to discuss plans and projects.
  5. Project manage a range of projects, ensuring timely completion within budget. Develop innovative projects with external partners and cross-departmental teams.
  6. Regularly travel around the South West region; a full driving license is required, with a company car provided.

Requirements:

  • Qualified to HND/degree level in forestry or land management.
  • Experience in managing forestry and land on high-conservation sites, writing and reviewing harvesting plans.
  • Strong communication and project management skills, with experience in coordinating multiple workstreams and contractors.
  • Understanding of FSC certification, UKWAS, CDM regulations, and practical woodland management issues.

What We Offer:
