About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Diabetes Lead Psychological Practitioner to join our team at Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality psychological assessments and interventions to patients with diabetes, as well as leading and managing the psychological services within the trust.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialist psychological assessments and interventions to patients with diabetes, including individual and group therapy sessions.
  • Lead and manage the psychological services within the trust, including supervising and supporting a team of psychological practitioners.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for the psychological services, ensuring compliance with trust and national guidelines.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients with diabetes.
  • Contribute to the development and evaluation of new services and initiatives within the trust.

Requirements:

  • Registered with an accredited body approved by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA), such as the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Significant post-qualification experience as a qualified psychological professional working with long-term conditions (LTCs) such as diabetes.
  • Specialist training in the delivery of psychological adult mental health therapy, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
  • Experience of clinical governance and risk management in a healthcare setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
