Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Psychological Practitioner to lead our Diabetes Care team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide specialist psychological assessment and therapy to patients living with diabetes, working closely with other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality care.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist psychological assessments and therapy to patients living with diabetes, using evidence-based approaches and techniques.
  • Work closely with other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality care, including GPs, secondary care diabetes and mental health services, and other non-psychologist colleagues.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of service policies and procedures, ensuring that they are aligned with best practice and meet the needs of our patients.
  • Manage the workload and clinical supervision of the psychological practitioners in the team, ensuring that they have the necessary support and resources to deliver high-quality care.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with other healthcare professionals, including GPs, secondary care diabetes and mental health services, and other non-psychologist colleagues, to ensure that patients receive seamless care.
Requirements
  • Registered with an accredited body approved by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA), such as the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) or the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).
  • Significant post-qualification experience as a qualified psychological professional working with long-term conditions (LTCs) such as diabetes.
  • Specialist training in the delivery of psychological adult mental health therapy, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
  • Experience of working in a physical healthcare setting and within a multidisciplinary team setting.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical, and/or clinically sensitive information to patients, their families, carers, and other professional colleagues.
