Autism Support Assistant Role

Are you a dedicated and compassionate individual seeking to make a positive impact in the lives of children with Autism? We are seeking an exceptional Autism Support Assistant to join our team at a primary school in Southwark. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in the academic development and in-school engagement of a student with Autism.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and prepare engaging learning materials to inspire individual learning
  • Keep accurate records of pupil observations and provide feedback to parents
  • Assist with general teaching assistant responsibilities in the classroom as needed
  • Work under the supervision of the school's SENCo and class teachers
  • Provide personalized support to the student, helping to build social confidence and academic engagement
  • Participate in comprehensive in-house and external training to enhance your skills and expertise

Person Specification:
  • Hold a degree in Psychology or a related field from a top UK university
  • Experience working with children is desirable but not essential
  • Exhibit a patient and calming demeanor, with the ability to support others
