About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team at Vistry Group. As a key member of our commercial team, you will be responsible for managing all costs related to new build residential developments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage build costs and ensure they are minimized while maintaining quality standards
  • Collaborate with the Senior Estimator to ensure accurate records of build costs and rates
  • Attend specification meetings to confirm site-specific requirements and build regulations
  • Compile tender packages and receive tenders, qualifying and analyzing them for comparison with CV1/CV2 estimates
  • Coordinate activities with the Material Buyer and Company Estimator to achieve CV1 and CV2 sign-off
  • Place and issue sub-contract orders within budget and program requirements
  • Attend and minute sub-contract order adjudication meetings
  • Compile reports on contract letting vs. estimate for each site
  • Liaise with the build department on sub-contractors' performance and compliance with order conditions
  • Manage and certify retention releases on completion of the development
  • Complete sub-contract final accounts within 6 months of the last legal completion on-site
Requirements
  • HNC/HND in Surveying or equivalent
  • Proven experience as a PQS/SQS/Commercial Lead working within a residential house builder
  • Strong mathematical and IT ability
  • Ability to assess and analyze information
  • Good business sense and negotiation skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Able to work under pressure and accept criticism of work
  • Good team working skills and attention to detail
Desirable
  • Degree in Surveying or similar
  • Working towards being a Member of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) or Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)
