We are a dynamic and supportive team at Ravensbury Park Medical Centre, a primary care provider in Merton. Our centre provides high-quality medical care to a registered list of about 5500 patients through our dedicated team of 7 clinical and 10 administrative staff.

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Healthcare Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will share responsibility for the treatment room and perform routine nursing-related duties.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Provide delegated healthcare support to the multi-professional team in delivering care to patients.
  2. Phlebotomy services, taking bloods as requested by the Nurse and GP, and referring to the GP and Nurse as necessary.
  3. Conduct blood pressure checks, urine tests, heights and weights, body mass index, and/or waist measurement, and record as required.
  4. Support the nursing team with chronic disease care for patients.
  5. Stock toilets with urine sample pots and Chlamydia forms, and regularly check reception for urine samples left by patients.
  6. Undertake NHS Health Checks and promote the Chlamydia Screening Programme to all 16-24 year olds.
  7. Support the chronic disease management monitoring by providing support to the nursing team and ensuring accurate data entry into SystmOne.
  8. Provide chaperone and assistance to the clinician during designated minor surgery clinics.
  9. Refer and report any investigation/examination findings and results to the appropriate professional.
  10. Support patients in accessing different professionals by listening to their request/problem and directing them to the appropriate health professional or other staff member.
  11. Ensure the condition of clinical rooms is maintained in accordance with infection control and service guidelines.

Qualifications

  • GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths

Desirable

  • Qualified in Phlebotomy
  • Experience of working in a GP practice
