About the Role

Renfrewshire Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our Policy and Partnerships service as a Migration, Asylum and Population Change Lead Officer.

This is a temporary position, subject to business needs and funded for 2 years or until the requirement for the post ceases, whichever date is the earlier.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the delivery of the Council's ongoing strategic programme, ensuring a strong focus on working with partners and communities to support resettlement and ensure services and supports are targeted appropriately.
  • Develop, co-ordinate and lead a range of policy activities to support the Council and wider partnership response to migration, asylum and population change issues.
  • Provide strategic support to senior managers and elected members, particularly supporting the work of the Strategic Migration Group chaired by the Chief Social Work Officer, and participation in wider local and national partnership meetings.
  • Work effectively at a senior level in a political environment, and experience of working successfully in partnership with external agencies.
  • Have knowledge of the legislative and policy environment in relation to migration, asylum and population change, and demonstrable experience of policy development in a similar or relevant field or organisation.
Requirements
  • Experience and a proven track record of operating at a management level in a large public sector organisation.
  • Substantial experience of leading projects with a demonstrable record of achievement.
  • Effective organisational and analytical skills, as well as a proven ability to lead and manage teams and projects in large complex organisations.
  • Experience of leading successful migration, asylum or population change programmes or outcome-focused programmes in a similar field, and experience of effectively managing complex budgets.
