Job Title: Principal Scientific Consultant

Galson Sciences Limited is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Scientific Consultant to join our team. As a key member of our research team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality research projects in nuclear decommissioning, radioactive waste management, and disposal.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and deliver high-quality research reports on geological disposal of radioactive waste.
  • Present research findings to clients and at conferences, and facilitate technical workshops and discussions.
  • Contribute to business development in areas of expertise.
  • Manage projects in accordance with company standards and guidelines.
  • Lead a small team of consultants and ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of activities.
Requirements:
  • PhD or MSc in quantitative earth sciences, applied mathematics, physics, chemistry, or engineering, or a BSc with relevant experience.
  • Excellent proposal writing and technical work skills, with attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong time management, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent presentation, interpersonal, and communication skills in English.
  • Project and contract management experience.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
  • Nuclear industry experience, particularly in radioactive waste treatment, disposal, and related fields.
  • Modelling skills, including site characterisation, groundwater flow, gas transfer, and contaminant transport in geological media.
  • Criticality safety assessments, radiological risk assessment, and environmental safety case development.
  • Coding skills, such as Python or C++.
