Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Production Team Leader to join our team at ACS Staffing Solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Production Manager in the day-to-day running of the operation, ensuring the smooth operational running of machines and/or area of control on their shift.

Main Responsibilities
  • Production Performance: Achieve site performance and quality targets through effective and efficient planning and running of the shift.
  • Health and Safety: Understand and enforce Health & Safety protocols to protect staff, contractors, and visitors.
  • Team Management: Motivate a team of operatives through good communication, training, and development to ensure staff understand their roles and the role within the team.
  • Administrative Tasks: Implement and monitor company processes and procedures, capturing all administration through to completion, including accurate and timely completion of management reports.
  • Shift Planning: Produce timely production of shift production planning prior to the next shift commencing.
  • Cover and Support: Provide cover for the supervisor/manager when required for liaising with customers and suppliers.
  • Stock Rotation: Monitor stock rotation through a FIFO system.
  • Quality Control: Carry out QC checks in line with processes.
  • Hygiene and PPE: Carry out various hygiene tasks, including the monitor and implementation of PPE equipment to all staff.
  • Machine Checks: Check prestart checks on machines.
  • Team Leadership: Lead a team in a hands-on role, in the warehouse, logistics, or manufacturing environment.
  • Audits and Reporting: Complete any JES audits against agreed schedules and lead in the distribution of shift handover notes prior to shift commencement.
  • Labour Organisation: Rotation and Organisation of labour within their area of control.
  • Customer Communication: Communication with customers when required.
  • Housekeeping: Ensure that general housekeeping adherence is maintained, including site cleanliness and individual's complete tasks that have been assigned to them in accordance with your time scales.
  • New Worker Support: Confirm new Young Workers are given additional support, training & confirm they have an experienced person with them until proficient.
  • MHE and VOR: Ensure pre-shift inspections for MHE are carried out correctly and process is followed for VOR equipment.
  • COSHH and Risk Assessments: Ensure all COSHH materials are stored correctly and have relevant MSDS sheets and risk assessments.
  • Accident Reporting: Ensure all accidents and near miss events are reported immediately with sufficient root cause analysis documented and copies supplied to the SHE team.
  • Fire Safety: Ensure adequate fire safety arrangements are in place.
  • Health and Safety Leadership: Driving health and safety through the team with an infectious and passionate approach.
  • Point of Work Risk Assessments: When necessary, issue Point of work risk assessments or method statement for any ad hock work.
  • Record Keeping: Ensure all critical control documents and other records are maintained and updated daily so that all statutory requirements are met.
  • HR Tasks: Carry out HR tasks as necessary for example return to work and holiday planning procedures.
  • Agency Worker Liaison: Liaise with agency worker provider.
Requirements
  • Experience: Previous experience in warehouse logistics with good people management skills.
  • Skills: Excellent communication skills - written & verbal, ability to manage and control performance of staff within the team, combination of practical and intercultural skills, ability to shift, and adapt to different tasks that vary between analysis and being hands-on.
  • Problem-Solving: Must be able to demonstrate effective problem-solving skills.
  • Teamwork: Thrive on change, inclined to operate with flexibility and commit the time required to get the job done.
  • Leadership: Team Building and Motivation - Leads by example, taking time to listen to people and work with them.

  • IT Skills: PC / IT Skills - Able to complete all duties requiring use of application such as SharePoint, Excel, Word, Emails and Teams. Complete hourly trackers, shift reports and site management information systems.
  • Adaptability: Open Minded & Adaptable - Is approachable and open-minded to other people's ideas, being prepared to try new ways of working. Adapts to different situations with a flexible approach to operational changes and people's views.
