Job Title: Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor to join our team at Breedon Group plc. As a key member of our GB Cement division, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health, safety, and wellbeing of our employees, contractors, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on health, safety, and wellbeing matters to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and company policies.
  • Conduct thorough investigations into incidents and near-misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and implement effective health and safety programs, including training and competency frameworks, to ensure a culture of zero harm.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to establish and maintain a robust framework for health and safety management, ensuring legal compliance and best practice.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices, identifying opportunities to improve our health and safety performance.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with health and safety legislative requirements.
  • Deliver training and coaching to employees and contractors on health and safety matters, maintaining accurate training records.
  • Oversee the induction program for visitors and contractor partners, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment.
Requirements:
  • NEBOSH National Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent)
  • IOSH membership
  • NEBOSH National Diploma (advantageous)
Desirable Skills and Knowledge:
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation
  • Competent risk assessor
  • Ability to mentor and coach fellow auditors and auditees
  • Current knowledge of behaviour-based safety
  • Understanding of safety culture development
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Sound understanding of business management systems, including ISO 45001
  • Awareness of industrial health trends
  • Excellent engagement skills
  • Good knowledge of core IT systems
