Job Title: Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor to join our team at Breedon Group plc. As a key member of our Health and Safety team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the well-being of our employees and the safety of our operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert advice on health, safety, and wellbeing matters to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and industry standards.
  • Conduct thorough investigations into incidents and near-misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and implement health and safety programs, including training and competency frameworks, to ensure a culture of safety and wellbeing.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to establish and maintain a framework for ensuring legal compliance with health and safety matters.
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices in health and safety and implement new ideas and initiatives to improve our safety performance.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with health and safety legislative requirements.
  • Organize and deliver training programs to ensure employees have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles safely.
  • Oversee the induction program for visitors and contractor partners to ensure they understand our health and safety policies and procedures.
Requirements:
  • NEBOSH National Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent)
  • IOSH membership
  • NEBOSH National Diploma (advantageous)
Skills and Knowledge:
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation
  • Competent risk assessor
  • Ability to mentor and coach fellow auditors and auditees
  • Current knowledge of behaviour-based safety (desirable)
  • Understanding of safety culture development
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Sound understanding of business management systems, including relevant standards (e.g. ISO 45001)
  • Awareness of generally available data and information on industrial health trends
  • Excellent engagement skills
  • Good knowledge of core IT systems
