About the Role

As a Data Protection Manager at esure, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding our privacy and data protection framework. Your primary responsibility will be to lead the implementation of our data protection policies and procedures, ensuring we meet all data protection regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement data protection policies and procedures.
  • Ensure data processing activities comply with UK GDPR and other regulations.
  • Assist in responding to data breaches, including investigation, remediation, and reporting.
  • Conduct training sessions on data protection and privacy best practices.
  • Perform DPIAs and privacy risk assessments for new projects and systems.
  • Conduct and maintain balancing tests for LIAs.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate data protection risks.
  • Assist with audits and produce compliance reports.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure cohesive data protection practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Law, or related field.
  • Proven experience in privacy and data protection, ideally in financial services.
  • Strong knowledge of Data Protection Act 2018, UK GDPR, PECR, and ICO guidance.
  • Track record of managing and implementing privacy programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Strong skills in leading cross-functional initiatives and driving results.
  • Ability to compose accurate and concise reports/updates.
  • Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.
  • Pragmatic commercial judgment in assessing risks and business responses.
  • Confident presenter to management-level audiences.
  • Effective understanding of IT concepts relevant to privacy.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with tight deadlines.
  • Capable of working independently or as part of a team, with limited guidance.
