Job Description

We are seeking a high-calibre Legal Counsel with regulatory and commercial background to join our fast-growing legal team in London.

You will work closely with all areas of the business, taking a collaborative approach to solving complex legal challenges. As part of a worldwide fintech company in rapid expansion, we value our employees and commit to organic professional growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand and translate into business-friendly language directives, laws, and regulations that apply to payment networks, schemes, providers, and other participants in the payments industry.
  • Work in a multicultural environment, interacting with internal stakeholders across the globe.
  • Provide clear, timely, and actionable legal advice on products and features developed and launched by e-money/payment institutions to ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Advise on product structure and draft/negotiate contracts with stakeholders and counterparties.
  • Act as a trusted adviser to management on key regulatory matters impacting the business across EMEA, working closely with subject matter experts in compliance, AML, data privacy.
  • Identify productivity improvements and help deliver process change.
  • Act as a strategic business partner, helping the business expand internationally, researching new territories, and providing creative, proactive advice.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Qualified solicitor (UK/European qualified) with at least 5 years PQE in financial services or corporate law in a law firm or in-house position.
  • Experience in providing legal and regulatory advice, drafting commercial agreements, preferably with technology/financial services background.
  • Strong interpersonal, organisational, and verbal and written communication skills to explain complex issues.
  • Strong sense of ownership for supporting commercial objectives, interest in following global fintech developments.
  • Project management skill, ability to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Autonomy to work independently.

Salary: Estimated £80,000 - £110,000 per annum, depending on experience.
