About the Role

The Resources Officer will lead high-quality business support within Cultural Services, balancing planned and reactive needs.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • processing invoices, recording income, and ensuring a clear audit trail of processed transactions
  • monitoring service budgets to ensure accurate reporting, investigating inaccuracies, and contributing to financial forecasts
  • collating, analysing, and presenting statistical and financial data, producing reports for the service and senior management
  • leading the procurement of resources and managing contracts with suppliers, ensuring the best service within allocated resources
  • supporting frontline engagement services, such as development, community activity, arts, and heritage activity, and supporting colleagues in allocating and monitoring funding

Sutton Council's Cultural Services comprises a network of public libraries, heritage houses, and a year-round cultural programme for all ages.

Cultural Services provide a key part of community life in Sutton, supporting early years development, digital literacy, community activities, study space, cultural celebrations, and access to Council services.

About You

The successful candidate will:

  • have experience liaising with stakeholders, providing excellent customer service
  • have technical and professional skills in using accounting software and spreadsheets to collate and analyse financial data and oversee budgets
  • be highly organised, self-motivated, and able to show initiative to meet tight deadlines
  • have experience managing or supervising staff, including motivating and leading them
  • have the skills to produce meaningful financial or data reports for senior management
