About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Cyber Intelligence Developer to join our Cyber Collections team at MI5. As a Security Researcher, you will be responsible for developing capabilities to collect cyber intelligence from computers and devices that are critical to MI5's ability to safeguard the UK.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining a deep understanding of various applications and operating systems used by the subjects of our intelligence investigations.
  • Searching for new vulnerabilities within target operating systems and applications, and working up exploits to other vulnerabilities found within the community.
  • Researching novel techniques to avoid detection and helping with the general development of our on-device collection capabilities.
  • Assisting with the onboarding of new capabilities or techniques.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have a solid background in security research or reverse engineering, and bring extensive knowledge of a specific operating system's internals. You will also work constructively in a team environment, be an adept problem solver, and be comfortable with managing uncertainty and risk.

Salary and Benefits

The starting salary for this role is £48,928, with the potential for additional skills payment, potentially increasing the salary to between £57,362 and £61,732. You will also have access to a range of benefits, including 25 days annual leave, opportunities to be recognised through our employee performance scheme, and a cycle to work scheme.
