Midwifery Practitioner Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Midwifery Practitioner to join our team at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust. As a key member of our maternity services, you will provide high-quality care and advice to women during pregnancy, labour, and childbirth, as well as postnatal care for women and babies in various settings.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide expert care and support to women during pregnancy, labour, and childbirth, ensuring a safe and positive experience for all.
  • Work closely with obstetric colleagues to ensure safe practice in various settings, including home, community, hospitals, and Children's Centres.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with colleagues and patients, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to relevant legislation and trust policies.
  • Keep accurate and complete records of all activities and communication, consistent with legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Actively involve clients, relatives, and carers in their treatment and enable individuals to assist in their own recovery.
Person Specification
  • NMC Registered.
  • Effective influencing skills: in general and with senior healthcare professionals.
  • Understands Risk Management and Complaints procedures.
  • Demonstrable experience of staff development and performance management.
