We are seeking a highly skilled Specialist Community Dietitian to join our team at The Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust. This is a Band 6 Specialist Dietitian position, working 5 days a week, Monday to Friday.
Main Responsibilities- Nutritional assessment and calculation of requirements for referred in-patients, considering medical, social, and cultural factors.
- Providing evidence-based nutrition and dietary advice tailored to patients' needs.
- Undertaking consultations for patients with neurological and neurosurgical conditions across various clinical settings.
- Accurate recording of assessments and interventions in medical notes, nursing documentation, and dietetic record cards as per Trust policy.
- Liaising with relevant agencies, including members of the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT), catering, pharmacy, and community dietitians.
- Delivering training to healthcare professionals and staff groups on nutrition-related topics.
- Contribution to the training of pre-registration dietetic students, encompassing program planning, clinical supervision, and assessment process development.

Required Qualifications and Skills- Degree or Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics.
- Experience in pre-registration dietetic student training.
- Able to undertake independent nutritional assessments for hospital inpatients.
- Competent in developing evidence-based nutritional care plans for hospital inpatients.
- Skills in training other healthcare professionals and student dietitians.
- Ability to conduct clinical audit and service evaluation projects.
- Good understanding of the role of the dietitian in rehabilitation.
- Experience in the dietetic management of hospital inpatients with neurological conditions.
