Policing Leadership Opportunities

Are you an ambitious and experienced inspector looking for a new challenge? Greater Manchester Police is seeking high-performing individuals to fill Chief Inspector roles, where you will play a key part in shaping the future of our organisation.

We are looking for resilient and suitably experienced officers who are passionate about delivering exceptional policing to the communities we serve. Successful candidates will support us on our journey of continued improvement, leading complex policing activity, managing competing demands, and making informed deployment decisions to ensure best use of available resources.

About the Role

The successful candidates will hold the highest level of credibility and will:

•Plan, manage, and monitor complex policing activity, ensuring effective resource allocation and deployment decisions.

•Lead, motivate, and engage large and diverse teams of inspectors, sergeants, constables, and police staff, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.

•Contribute to setting and monitoring key objectives to support delivery of the Policing Plan, driving positive outcomes and reducing demand.

•Manage team budgets, monitoring and reviewing expenditure to ensure best use of available resources and value for money.

•Analyse performance data and information against team objectives, reporting against performance management measures and informing workforce planning.

Eligibility Criteria

Please note the following eligibility criteria:

•You must have the support of your Chief Superintendent (or Police Staff equivalent).

•You must have held the rank of substantive inspector for 12 months or have been a temporary inspector for 12 months whilst completing the Work-Based Assessment, fully signed off by the closing date of the application process.

•You must be in an active PDR cycle prior to submitting your application, with PDR engagement checked prior to consideration for sift.

The estimated salary for this role is £75,000 - £90,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
