Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Gastroenterology Specialist to join our team of experienced medical professionals. Our hospital provides comprehensive care for patients with gastrointestinal disorders, and we are committed to delivering high-quality services in a supportive and inclusive environment.

We offer an attractive salary package, estimated at £100,000-£120,000 per annum, based on the national average for consultant gastroenterologists in the UK. In addition to your basic salary, you will receive a range of benefits, including access to professional development opportunities, a generous pension scheme, and a competitive relocation package if required.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert clinical care to patients with gastrointestinal complaints, working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team to diagnose and manage complex cases. You will also participate in audit and governance activities, support the training of junior medical staff, and contribute to the development of enhanced clinical skills.

A formal job plan will be agreed between the successful candidate and their Clinical Director and consultant colleagues, outlining specific responsibilities and objectives for the coming year. This will include 7.5 Programmed Activities (PAs) of Direct Clinical Care, 2.5 Supporting Professional Activities (SPAs), and out-of-hours activity including participation in an on-call rota primarily for GI bleeds.
