About the Role:

The Senior Financial Strategist will contribute to the council's financial strategy and support the annual budget-setting and planning processes. This role requires a qualified CCAB professional with experience in financial reporting, closing accounts, and managing external audits. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop financial models to assess the impact of service changes and identify funding opportunities.
• Ensure effective financial management, including budget monitoring and reporting.
• Assist with the annual closing of accounts and liaise with auditors.
• Provide expert financial advice and foster a high-performing, customer-focused finance service.
• Lead and mentor staff, promoting professional development.

Requirements:

• A qualified CCAB or actively studying towards CCAB (preferably CIPFA), CIMA, CFA, or ACT.
• Experience in financial reporting, closing accounts, and managing external audits.
• Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
• Knowledge of local government financial issues and policies.
