About the Role

The Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the position of Senior Lead for Children and Young Persons Autism Intensive Support Service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert support, advice, and clinical leadership to a 4-18 years Autism Service to offer an enhanced model of support to the wider mainstream education, health, and social care services within Lancashire and South Cumbria.
  • Promote and support good access to mainstream healthcare for those with autism, the reduction of health inequalities, and premature mortality, and the delivery of specialist healthcare interventions for this group of people.
  • Support the operational aspects of service delivery and report directly to the Service Manager, including managing budgets, recruitment, staff management, developing Standard Operating Procedures, managing risk, and other operational tasks.
  • Provide clinical and professional support to staff in the team, including supervision, guidance, and a reduced caseload to reflect the joint Operational and Clinical nature of the role.

Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of services, including secondary mental health care across this area. Specialist provision comprises inpatient child and adolescent mental health services, perinatal mental health, and forensic services, including low and medium secure care.

The Trust also provides a range of physical health and well-being services in the community alongside a range of partners in the Lancashire, Cumbria, and Sefton area.

Requirements
  • Compliance with regulatory bodies and codes of professional conduct.
  • Knowledge of current key NHS developments and policies and implications for service delivery.
  • Evidence of extensive and clinical knowledge, skill, and experience in the field of service provision to children/young people with learning disabilities, autism, or both.
  • Evidence of management development through continuous professional development and/or formal management courses.
  • Experience of partnership working across a range of agencies and professional boundaries.
  • Compliance with regulatory bodies and codes of professional conduct.
  • Knowledge of current key NHS autism developments and policies for children and young people and implications for service delivery.
  • Knowledge of current models of service for autistic people.
  • A commitment to developing specialist knowledge of interventions relevant to this client group.
