Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom International Society for Industrial Ecology Full time
Research Assistant/Associate in Climate Compatible Growth (CCG)

We are seeking highly motivated and talented individuals to join our Climate Compatible Growth (CCG) programme as Research Assistant/Associate. The CCG programme is a collaborative research initiative between leading UK universities and KTH Sweden, funded by the UK's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). The programme aims to support investment in sustainable energy and transport systems to meet development priorities in the Global South.

The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team working on research projects in selected CCG partner countries, including Kenya, Zambia, Ghana, Lao PDR, Viet Nam, and India. The key responsibilities and duties include:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct research on critical material production and supply chains
  • Model supply chain changes techno-economically
  • Produce high-quality research outputs, including academic and policy writing
  • Collaborate with institutions in selected CCG partner countries

The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Engineering or a related field, with knowledge and experience in environmental assessment, emissions accounting, and programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, and R. Strong collaboration and communication skills, as well as the ability to produce and clearly communicate high-quality research outputs, are essential.

Appointment at Research Associate level is dependent on having a PhD. Those who have submitted but not yet received their PhD will be appointed at Research Assistant level, which will be amended to Research Associate once the PhD has been awarded.

This is a full-time position with a start date as soon as possible. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, as well as the opportunity to work with a dynamic team on a cutting-edge research programme.

Apply now to join our team and contribute to the development of sustainable energy and transport systems in the Global South.
