About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our team at Bangor University. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting high-temperature experiments on molten salts and supporting CALPHAD modeling.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead research to identify solutions and implement process controls for working with high-temperature molten salts.
  • Support research-based physical measurements with CALPHAD modeling.
  • Manage and prioritize own workload to ensure all activities are completed to deadlines.
  • Coordinate and liaise with project partners to support the achievement of project objectives.
  • Contribute to a broader program of fuel processing, nuclear chemical engineering, and separations.
  • Write up research results and contribute to the production of research reports and publications.
  • Perform detailed analysis and manipulation of information and data.
  • Present results and make recommendations to facilitate decision-making.
  • Coach and provide specialist guidance to research students.
  • Requisition consumables, procure equipment, and services as required.
  • Assist with professional and knowledge exchange activities.
  • Engage in continuous professional development.
  • Travel internationally for relevant meetings and conferences.
Requirements
  • PhD in a Science or Engineering discipline (or close to completion) or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in planning, designing, and executing experimental studies in molten salts.
  • Experience of rig building with respect to molten salt experimental activities.
  • Experience of solid-state characterization techniques.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Track record of generating high-quality research outputs.
  • Experience of teaching and delivering engineering design projects.
  • Ability to research impact through activities that demonstrate an effect beyond academia.
  • Experience of research income generation from various sources.
