About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team in the Older Persons Community and In-patient Mental Health service. As a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, you will work closely with our Band 7 Clinical Lead and Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist to provide specialist care and management to older adults with complex communication disorders and dysphagia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a complex caseload of older adults with communication disorders and dysphagia, providing specialist assessments, treatment planning, and intervention.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans that promote the dignity and quality of life of older adults.
  • Provide specialist professional advice on the management and care of patients with dementia and feeding and swallowing difficulties.
  • Communicate effectively with service users, carers, families, and colleagues to ensure effective care and management.
  • Participate in clinical audit, research, and evidence-based practice to improve care and services.

Person Specification

  • Minimum 18 months experience of working with older people.
  • Qualification in dysphagia.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
