Job Purpose:
To provide assistance to teachers and classroom assistants in the provision of care and support to pupils within the school environment.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist pupils with personal care and hygiene, including the use of basic toileting aids.
- Ensure the safe mobility and supervision of pupils within school premises, including the playground and on school outings.
- Accompany teachers and staff on outings and in respect of individual therapy programmes.
- Ensure pupils comply with school rules and routines during the school day.
- Assist with cleaning equipment and setting out materials as directed.
- Perform other duties as assigned within the level of the post.
General Conditions:
- Carry out duties in accordance with health and safety regulations and codes of practice.
- Complete all necessary paperwork.
- Perform duties for jobs up to and including those in the same grade, provided such duties are within the competence of the employee.
Working Conditions:
Carry out duties in a safe and healthy working environment, in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work (NI) Order 1978 and other relevant legislation.
