Job Title: Optical Calibration Assessor (Contract Role)

Location: Remote, with UK-wide coverage

If you are an experienced professional in Optical Calibration seeking a flexible contract role, we have an opportunity for you. As an external Technical Assessor, you will play a crucial role in the UKAS assessment process, providing expert knowledge and ensuring rigorous, quality-driven assessments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Specialised knowledge of optical calibration involving filters, bulk materials, liquids, reflective tiles, lenses, light sources (tungsten, LEDs), lasers, fibre optics, and other relevant devices.
  • Knowledge in related fields such as spectrophotometry, refractometry, photometry, and ophthalmology.
  • Familiarity with data transfer and modulation techniques for fibre optics.
  • Hands-on experience in fibre optic connections and assembly.
  • Awareness of quality management systems and their application in a laboratory environment.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in optical and/or fibre optic calibration or testing within a measurement laboratory or similar environment.
  • Experience working with quality systems is advantageous but not essential.
