Experienced Phlebotomy Specialist

Key Responsibilities:
- Collect blood samples from patients of all ages using venipunctures, finger sticks, and heel sticks, adhering to aseptic techniques and established procedures.
- Enter accurate patient information into the hospital system, verifying demographics, updating insurance details, and administering ABNs as needed.
- Organize and distribute phlebotomy workload, ensuring timely results for providers, including routine, time-sensitive, or stat orders.
- Order tests in the computer system and communicate with physicians regarding test requests.
- File and scan scripts, insurance information, and prepare reports for delivery to doctors' offices as required.
- Prepare samples for courier pickup or delivery to the appropriate department to maintain specimen integrity.
- Manage inventory of phlebotomy supplies to minimize downtime and ensure continuous service.
- Maintain a clean and organized phlebotomy work area, adhering to established procedures.
- Assist in the training of new employees.
- Perform phlebotomy duties at assigned locations as determined by the manager to meet departmental needs.
Requirements:
- A high school diploma and a minimum of six months of job-related experience or equivalent is required.
- Phlebotomy certification is mandatory for all employees hired after 2012.
