Job Title: Senior Children's Support Worker

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Senior Children's Support Worker to join our team at Leeds City Council. As a Senior Children's Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting children with disabilities and looked-after children in a residential setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement care plans and conduct risk assessments to ensure the well-being and safety of children in our care.
  • Provide personal care and support to children with disabilities and complex needs, including bathing, toileting, dressing, and feeding.
  • Support children's emotional, mental, and physical health needs to build self-esteem and promote positive relationships.
  • Nurture children's ambitions for their future and their learning, both in and out of school.
  • Provide a safe, stimulating, and secure living and learning environment that promotes children's development and well-being.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with colleagues, other council directorates, service users, carers, external agencies, and the wider public.
  • Work with professionals and communities of origin to sustain links and understand past problems.
  • Manage complex and challenging behaviour in an assertive, restorative, and sensitive manner.
  • Work to reduce the likelihood that a child/young person becomes criminalized, encouraging restorative approaches and outcomes.
Requirements:
  • NVQ/QCF Diploma Level 3 in Residential Child Care, or equivalent.
  • QFC Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People's Services Level 5, or equivalent.
  • Recent experience of working with young people or vulnerable adults who may have emotional or behavioural difficulties.
  • Supervision of staff, personal and team development, and training.
