Job Summary

The Deputy Head of Nursing is a senior leadership role responsible for the strategic direction and operational management of community nursing services. This includes the assessment of nursing care needs, development and implementation of programs, and evaluation of outcomes.

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead the community nursing team to deliver high-quality care to patients with specialist palliative care needs.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure uniformity of nursing care across all community services.
  • Manage and develop the skills and competencies of the community nursing team.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure equity of access to nursing care for all patients.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the community nursing team to promote a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A first-level registered nurse qualification and a first degree in a relevant subject.
  • Appropriate post-basic qualifications in end-of-life/palliative care and a master's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and positive leadership skills.
  • Experience of successfully managing people as a senior post holder and working within a multi-disciplinary team.
