About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Head of External Communications to join our team at the Head Office. As a key member of our Communications department, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the external image of our company and driving our commercial success.

The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of crisis and issues management, with the ability to stay calm under pressure and provide sound advice. They will also have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven success in working with senior stakeholders.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Inspiring and leading the External Communications team to ensure high performance, creativity, and innovation.
  • Ensuring the Communications team collaborates effectively with other business areas for maximum impact, both commercially and reputationally.
  • Working closely with our brands to amplify and deepen customer marketing activity and enhance messaging.
  • Implementing a corporate and brand communications and engagement program, focusing on brand initiatives, corporate news, celebratory moments, and campaigns supported by positive storytelling.
  • Managing a busy media relations function while mitigating potential risks and issues.
  • Ensuring external communications and engagement activities reach a broad audience, managing a complex set of stakeholders with varying needs.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience running an in-house corporate and/or lifestyle External Communications Team for high-profile consumer or retail brands. They will also have established relationships with key UK lifestyle, consumer, financial, and business media.

We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including hybrid working and full-time holiday entitlement of 25 days, plus public and bank holidays (prorated for part-time hours).
