School Garden Facilitator

Join our team at Social Farms & Gardens as a School Garden Facilitator, where you will play a key role in delivering tailored garden sessions to learners and developing curriculum opportunities for land-based learning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver seasonal garden sessions to learners, promoting hands-on learning and engagement with the natural world.
  • Collaborate with the School Farm Manager, Tutors, and Teachers to develop and implement garden-based learning opportunities, ensuring a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
  • Maintain the school garden, including small-scale pig and chicken husbandry, to provide a safe and productive space for learning.
  • Work with therapy and land teams to create immersive sensory and play environments within the garden and wider estate, promoting holistic learning and development.
  • Contribute to the development of the school's land-based curriculum, ensuring it is engaging, relevant, and aligned with the needs of learners.
  • Take an active role in linking the produce from the land to the school kitchens and residential services, promoting sustainability and reducing waste.
Requirements:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with learners, staff, and external partners.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • A keenness to improve your own knowledge and skills in a unique educational environment, with a willingness to learn and adapt.
