Job Title: School Garden Tutor

Location: Clent Hills, West Midlands

Hours: 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

Salary: £24,717 - £35,119 per annum dependent upon qualifications

Contract Type: Permanent

Sunfield Specialist School is an innovative provision offering full-time education to children with significant social, emotional, or educational difficulties. Our dynamic outdoor land and craft-based curriculum includes textiles, green woodwork, pottery, cooking, and blacksmithing. The school garden provides a space for learning and engagement, where young people interact with the plant and animal world through activities. This role involves:

  • Delivering tailored seasonal garden sessions to learners
  • Developing curriculum opportunities for land-based learning, working with the School Farm Manager, Tutors, and Teachers to ensure garden-based learning is supported throughout the school
  • Maintaining the existing school garden, including small-scale pig and chicken husbandry
  • Working alongside therapy and land teams to develop immersive sensory and play environments within the context of the garden and wider estate
  • Honesty, reliability, excellent communication skills, resilience, hard work, versatility, and a great team player
  • A keenness to improve your own knowledge and skills in a unique educational environment
  • Linking the produce from the land for the residential services and school kitchens
