About the Role

The Bailie Group is seeking a highly skilled Senior Human Factors Engineer to join our team as a Technical Lead. As a key member of our Defence and Security division, you will be responsible for providing expert Human Factors support to our clients in the UK Defence sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Human Factors input to client programmes, including Human Computer Interaction (HCI) development and assessment, Human Machine Interface (HMI) assessment, and Cognitive workload assessment.
  • Develop and manage Human Factors Integration Plans (HFIP) and provide technical Human Factors advice to stakeholders across various disciplines.
  • Control time and budget of Human Factors programmes of work and tasks within larger contracts.
  • Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to understand their Human Factors needs and develop solutions to meet those needs.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices in Human Factors and apply this knowledge to improve our services.

Requirements

  • Education in a Human Factors related subject (Product Design, Engineering, Psychology).
  • 2+ years of experience applying Human Factors in a related sector.
  • Experience of providing Human Factors support to Safety Cases, including development and substantiation of Human-Based Safety Claims.
  • Experience of applying Human Reliability (failure) Assessment methods and techniques within the high hazard industry.
  • Extensive experience of conducting Defence related HF projects.
  • Working knowledge of relevant UK and international standards/guidance and their application.
  • Excellent communication, report writing, and presentation skills.
  • Substantial experience of working directly with clients and representatives from stakeholders.
  • Competent use of MSOffice applications.
  • Excellent communication skills and consultation proficiency.
  • Evidence of a commitment to technical excellence and continued professional development.

Desirable/Preferred

  • Registration with the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (CIEHF) or other suitable professional bodies.
